Gina Mackey
Harpist/Singer
From her earliest
appearances in her native Ireland Gina Mackey has
been turning heads. Tall, elegant beautiful and
graceful she has gone from strength to strength
since winning Irelands most prestigious music
competition the `Feis Ceoil`. She has been asked
to play for The late Lady Diana Spencer,
Presidents and Heads of State in Cathedrals and
concert halls across the globe. Her purity of
ability transforming formal events, into a breath
taking suspension in time.
Her real dream however is to create an album of
her songs that will be both contemporary but be
redolent of her native land. To hear her work is
to catch a flavour of a traditional sound but
newly invigorated in a pop medium. The blend of
crashing guitars and drums interlaced with the
awe-inspiring sound of her voice and harp. She
first touched base with her dream by playing on
TV on Carlton Televisions The Warehouse. Her band
came together and so began the sound that brings
audiences alive.
A recent reviewer wrote " I saw this leather
clad girl with a great mane of hair hold an
audience spell bound in a small West London
venue. Her band was so tight you couldn't fit a
stamp between them. She had a harp and sang like
an angel. This is classic pop appeal at work with
a magic seldom seen in a live performer. If a
record company don't snap her up there is no
justice!"
