On Sunday the 4th of Feb the pilot show launched. Phil Ryan opened the show as host, and after launching into a song that sent a ripple of pleasure through the theatre he then managed to stun the audience into amazement as he wrote a song before their very eyes, using audience suggestions for the theme and content of the song. Given that the main theme was losing your trousers and sinking in a boat on the Thames it just made his feat more impressive. 

His guest artists followed each giving an amusing and brief interview. First up came Art Fazil joined by virtuoso cellist Lizzie May for a set of songs best described as cool, hip and joyful all at the same time. His voice and guitar playing clearly an absolute delight to the audience who instantly warmed to him. The happy mood swept the audience into Evi's Vines set which was so achingly haunting and beautiful you could have heard a pin drop! After a short interval the charismatic Peter Conway took the stage, and though exhausted by a solid weeks recording on his new album delivered a stirring set of his uniquely lyrical songs. The passion of the man cutting right through you. His beloved glass of Guinness joining him from somewhere, much to the audience's amusement. 

Then came the special guest artist Baby Sol. Her voice effortlessly filling the vast space with an opening acapella number before being joined by Boyan her amazing French guitarist. She captivated the entire theatre. She was just a tiny piece of happiness with a voice set to thrill. In a very nice moment Dave the Storm Productions backroom genius entered into the spirit of things by not only super efficiently running the technical stuff onstage, he also got dragged into meeting the audience with Phil just before his final set.
Phil finished the evening and was joined by Baby Sol and Art Fazil for the penultimate song 'This Life', which captured three voices and two guitars in a distinctive and unique way. After Phil's final heartrending love song 'I believe in you' the night was over, with the promise of Acoustic Excellence well and truly kept!
