The latest Musical project from Storm Productions is a researched experimental idea to try and film a live action feature and then use a mix of film and stage set pieces to present the Musical 'Svengali' Initially envisaged as a series of filmed set pieces the idea is to actually stage the piece in a theatre. It will require a commitment from anyone signing up plus a strong and distinctive singing voice. Everyone involved will get both film and studio recorded materials as well as the chance to be part of the original stage cast. The story itself is almost a mix of documentary and 'real life' as we follow Lana a girl on her way to music success. Discovered at an Audition by disgraced one time top music producer Sven Gali and brilliant young writer Billy Steadman we enter the current world of manufactured 'Pop'. We follow our characters as they scale the heights of chart and media success. But as the sub line suggests just how far do you go for fame and what are you prepared to do to succeed? Anyone familiar with 'Pop Idol' or any 'TV reality' talent show will see very current and recognisable themes emerge. Using a mixture of script and improvisation we want to capture a small slice of the darker side of 'success'. This is not a 'morality' tale it is in essence a 'reality' tale. Featuring strongly written believable characters, the ensemble cast will populate a world of today's celebrity culture driven hopefuls. Every character gets to perform solo and ensemble songs as we try and keep up with deals within deals and betrayals within betrayals. The ending will take your breath away!
